As the school year begins to wind down and we look ahead to 2026, the South Wairarapa Rotary Club is once again gearing up for one of our favourite annual traditions: the Books for New Entrants programme.

Supporting a Love of Reading From Day One

For many years, this initiative has helped welcome our youngest learners into the world of primary school with a gift that sparks imagination, curiosity, and a lifelong love of reading.

It’s a time tested programme that brings joy to families and strengthens the connection between Rotary and our local schools.

Looking Ahead to 2026

It’s now November 2025, and we’ve just sent out our annual request for updated new entrant numbers from all South Wairarapa primary schools.

Once we receive these confirmations, we’ll finalise our order with Scholastic Books and begin preparing for another wonderful year of welcoming new students to the joy of reading.

A Community Effort Worth Celebrating

The Books for New Entrants programme is funded by the Rotary Club of South Wairarapa using profits from the annual Martinborough Fair. Every book gifted represents our commitment to literacy, education, and the wellbeing of our local tamariki.
